This stuff is truly hard to believe, but here it is anyway....
GOP presidential hopeful Rep. Tom Tancredo (Colo.) said Friday it is 'time the taxpayer gravy train left the New Orleans station" and urged an end to the federal aid to the region that was devastated by Hurricane Katrina two years ago.
"The amount of money that has been wasted on these so-called 'recovery' efforts has been mind-boggling," said Tancredo, who is running a long-shot presidential campaign. "Enough is enough."
Citing administration figures, the lawmaker said that $114 billion has been spent on the effort to rebuild a large stretch of the Gulf Coast after the storm hit New Orleans in August 2005 and claimed more than 1,600 lives. Link
Tancredo is the Republican candidate running on the 'Intolerance For All Minorities' platform. I suppose he's just getting back to the party's roots.
What I especially like about Tancredo's compassion and 'love your brother' mentality is the phrase "enough is enough". Tommy thinks it's just costing a bit too much to restore New Orleans. And by God, he's willing to call a "gravy train" a "gravy train" when he sees one. Well...maybe not.
What's interesting is how Tancredo doesn't spread his compassion to, like, the Iraq conflict costs. When the U.S. spends ONE HALF OF A TRILLION DOLLARS subsidizing GOP crony corporations...it's funny...I don't hear little Tommy Tancredo saying "enough is enough". In fact, he's one of the guys who can't defend the "surge" of taxpayers dollars onto the military-industrial gravy train, enough.
Tancredo doesn't call for an end to taxpayer subsidized killings of Muslims, he wants more. And dimes to donuts he'll vote to give his Commander Guy Dear Leader as much of our money as Decider asks for. But those New Orleans citizens? Get 'em off that gravy train.
If you would like to understand why American voters are fleeing the Republican Titantic in droves....you need go no further than Tommy Tancredo's Tantrum about New Orleans.
