Reality Based Leadership

By The Reverend Published: February 13, 2008

Lately I've noticed how folks from both political parties have been whining over what they claim is a lack of specifics coming out of Barack Obama's campaign.'s a few, fresh from his campaign, to talk about....

Democrat Barack Obama said Wednesday that as president he would spend $210 billion to create jobs in construction and environmental industries,....

Obama's investment would be over 10 years as part of two programs. The larger is $150 billion to create 5 million so-called "green collar" jobs to develop more environmentally friendly energy sources.

Sixty billion would go to a National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank to rebuild highways, bridges, airports and other public projects. Obama estimated that could generate nearly 2 million jobs, many of them in the construction industry that's been hit by the housing crisis.

"This agenda is paid for," Obama said. Obama explained that the money for his spending proposals will come from ending the Iraq war, cutting tax breaks for corporations, taxing carbon pollution and raising taxes on high income earners.

This is what reality based leadership looks like. Many Americans, fogged over by the faith based leadership failures of recent history, will most likely be confused and disoriented from their first glance at reality based leadership.

Instead of running a new short term pyramid program like Junior and the Congress just approved, Obama has a plan to create up to 7 million new jobs by looking forward, not backward.

Dangling trinkets of rebate checks in front of the unwashed masses in order to hold those corporate numbers from turning negative is looking backward. Backward towards the ponzi style economics of the current corporate/government coalition responsible for the mess we are in right now.

The insatiably greedy leaders in the paper shuffling industries have effed everything up and the leaders of the neo-con nuts have got us bogged down in some disgustingly bad Bushie of Arabia movie costing $2 billion a week from which the country benefits

Obama proposes to spend about the same amount Junior has pissed away in Iraq in just the last 2 Years and we'll get something to show for it, back here in the, you know, Homeland.

We're going to need government assistance for job creation until the banking/credit problem ripples out. Not some stupid $600 check that won't create ANY jobs. Unlike the reprehensible irresponsibility of a rotted political establishment which writes a check for $168 billion without any funds to cover it, Barack Obama PAYS for his stimulus bill instead of stacking it onto Bush's record mountain of debt.

Sure, yeah.....there'll be new whining and moaning about those filthy rich Americans who won't be able to buy a brand new Mercedes for Buffy or Biffy each year from now on......for all those folks and their cheerleaders.....two words.....downsizing counseling.

And yes, you read it correctly, Obama said "cutting tax breaks for corporations",....they've had a good run on the Treasury, profits have been phenomenal and CEO compensation has reached obscene's time to play nice for the sake of the entire nation.

Leaving the crime scene formerly known as the country of Iraq for national economic reasons is exactly what Ron Paul was preaching in the GOP hearty rounds of applause, I might add. We can't afford neo-con pre-emptive militaristic adventurism. We can't pay for our own country's needs....why in the hell should we be paying to tear down somebody else's country and then paying again to rebuild it?

We've seen what corrupt and incompetent faith based leadership gets us. We've seen enough to know, without doubt, that we don't want any more of it.

Obama is a leader. A true reality based leader doesn't have to be dishonest and underhanded to lead. A true leader doesn't have to tell the country one thing and then do the opposite. A true reality based leader puts the right people together, not in order to figure out how to divide up the spoils believing "it's our due", but in order to figure out how to make the entire country better.

Whiners have been asking for specifics from they have some.

Let the new round of whining and moaning begin.
