Getting Stung By Swarm Media

By The Reverend Published: June 29, 2012

Conservative media had all but wet themselves on national teevee explaining breathlessly, and with orgiastic glee, how President Obama would suffer a very, very, very bad month of June. The Supreme Court would rule in favor of Governor Jan Brewer's state of Arizona over the now-struck-down SB 1070.....states have a right to defend their borders. by god......and then Obamacare was going to be gutted by a band of small government, Constitution-protecting, conservative jurists...because, because, the government can't make citizens do anything, ever...and anyway, ObamaCare is unconstitutional. Oh, and liberty....don't forget liberty

So confident were the faith-based, conservative media that the Supremes would put the communist-wannabe, Obama, in his rightful place for acting all, you know, uppity while being president, that Speaker Boehner had a word of caution to conservatives about celebrating too loudly or too excitedly once the anti-colonialist Kenyan had his political nose bloodied by the Supreme Court this month....

ObamaCare Stands

By The Reverend Published: June 28, 2012

Hate to say I told you so.....but I did.

The individual mandate stands. Chief Roberts....a very good friend of powerful corporations and the bosses who run them, sided with big health insurers and big pharma....just like I predicted he would. It's still early in the dissection phase of the ruling, however,

The Objective Of Voter ID Laws

By The Reverend Published: June 27, 2012

You might remember when Ohio voters went to the polls and rejected Governor John Kasich's SB5, the "bust public unions" bill. You might also remember the e-mail before the special election from Ohio Tea Party Executive, Tom Zawistowski, which unambiguously claimed that if Ohioans did not defeat the recall of SB5, then union monies could still help President Obama and Senator Sherrod Brown get re-elected.

It was an admission that SB5.....from it's inception....was meant as a political sledgehammer to crush union-funding of the Democratic Party as part of Mitch McConnell's number one priority of, "making Obama a one term president." Ohio Republicans insisted that SB5 was all about balancing the state budget. Ending collective bargaining rights for Ohio teachers, we were told, was only an honest attempt to be fiscally responsible stewards of the state's tax dollars. That was a lie. It was all about political warfare....and Zawistowski let the cat out of the bag.

Kicking "Papers Please" Can Down The Road

By The Reverend Published: June 26, 2012

NY Times summation of yesterday's Supreme Court ruling on Arizona's SB 1070.....

The Supreme Court struck down three central sections of Arizona’s law, which had been regarded by opponents as the most harsh. In allowing the “show-me-your-papers” provision to stand, the court accepted, for the time being at least, Arizona’s word that police officers would not engage in racial profiling as they put it into practice.

2 Of 3 Republicans Believe Lies

By The Reverend Published: June 22, 2012

63% of Republican participants in a recent Dartmouth poll still believe today, 2012, that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction when the U.S. military attacked Iraq in 2003.

64% of that 63% of Republicans also still believe today, 2012, that Barack Obama was born in another country.

Issa's Insane Clown Posse

By The Reverend Published: June 21, 2012

When Republicans went after President Clinton in the 90's, the hunt to remove him from the presidency began with an investigation into a real estate deal. A real estate deal which resulted in the Clinton's LOSING money. The hunt of the Clinton's bounced from one conspiracy theory to another until, finally, Linda Tripp told Monica to not wash that blue dress.....Ken Starr finished up the hunt for Bill Clinton's scalp and the circus-sideshow known as the Impeachment of William Jefferson Clinton began.

Yesterday, the radar-detector salesman, Darrell Issa, always the most Serious GOP Clown in the room, called for a vote on the Oversight Committee to hold AG Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. If you are a purveyor of Fox products, you have heard all about Fast and Furious.....this decade's Whitewater, only with more Clown appearances. What you will rarely, if ever, hear from Fox, however, is this....

Disarray Over DREAM

By The Reverend Published: June 20, 2012

64% of the American public agree with President Obama's decision to "grant deferred action status and provide work permits on a temporary basis for DREAM-eligible students who came to America before the age of 16." 30% of those polled disagreed with Obama's decision.....but, more importantly 4 months away from a general election, independent voters approved of Obama's decision by a 2-1 margin. Republicans were against Obama's decision by 56%.

Univision anchor Jorge Ramos called it “the best news for immigrants in this country since 1986″ (when Reagan invoked a general amnesty).

The Tea House's Tiny Tyrants

By The Reverend Published: June 19, 2012

The Senate passed it in a bipartisan fashion, 74-22. Yep. Mitch McConnell's GOP minority in the Senate contributed some 20 votes in favor of the much needed transportation package. The bill would "re-authorize current spending on highway construction and lock-in infrastructure spending for future projects."

Sounds reasonable. right? Take care of our nation's roads and highways, keep 1.9 million Americans working and perhaps put another one million to work over the long term. Seventy four votes in favor from the Senate. A 75% approval.....but the bill appears to be dying in the Tea Party House.

John McCain: Free Speech Suppressor?

By The Reverend Published: June 18, 2012

Half of June is over and now the Supremes have only a couple weeks before they will rule on the ACA and the Arizona immigration law, among others. I expect fireworks before the Fourth of July. What we really need in our country right now is more, you know, it will be interesting to see if the activist Roberts Court will once again deliver.

Speaking of the activist seems that Senator John McCain had something to say about the Supremes in a PBS interview posted Friday. Just to give readers a bit of remedial work.....Senator John McCain was the GOP presidential candidate 4 years ago. I mention this because there has been a bit of amnesia lately among conservatives regarding whether George W. Bush ever held the presidency. He did. And McCain was the GOP candidate of choice in 2008. The same voters who will disagree with what McCain said in Friday's interview....voted for the guy in 2008. Conservative primary voters.....the most conservative of all Republican voters....chose John McCain in 2008 as their top candidate to run against the Kenyan Usurper-to-be.

Bankster Sock Puppets

By The Reverend Published: June 15, 2012

I wrote quite a bit about the Tea Party when it first kicked off in early 2009. The context of it's forming and having its first anti-Obama protest rallies in February and March that year is extremely important to understand. The context is important in seeing how big money in the U.S. plays average voters for suckers in a game to keep the system rigged in their favor.

What was the most important issue facing America at the beginning of 2009? It was the meltdown of the financial industry and what effect that was having, and would continue to have, on the overall economy. Three and a half years removed, we now know that middle Americans have lost 40% of their wealth since Lehman Brothers went belly-up and TARP was advanced by President Bush and Hank Paulson at the close of 2008.

It's Lack Of Demand, You Liars

By The Reverend Published: June 14, 2012

Still waiting for Mitt's "will you be my VP valentine call"'s Paul Ryan, yesterday....

“Look, President Obama is promising one of the largest tax increases in American history starting in January and we wonder why small businesses aren't creating jobs? On day one....Mitt Romney will fix this. He will start repealing the red tape that's choking off jobs and hindering our recovery. He will start repealing Obamacare, which is putting so much uncertainty in businesses. He’ll begin the process of lowering tax rates by closing special interest loopholes, which help small businesses with certainty so they can create jobs. He'll announce a 5% spending cut on government agency budgets to begin the process of deficit reduction, and he will approve the Keystone pipeline which we know will create lots of jobs and help make us a whole lot less dependent on foreign oil.”

Fevered Hallucinations

Exploiting Children For Profit

Doing Just Fine

By The Reverend Published: June 11, 2012

In May the U.S. workforce added 82,000 private sector jobs. In May public-worker employment decreased by 13,000.

Those numbers are fairly indicative of how the past 27 months have gone under President Obama's leadership. For each of the past 27 months in a row, the private sector has added jobs....

Too Extreme To Be Put In Charge

By The Reverend Published: June 8, 2012

It was only last August when all 8 GOP presidential primary candidates stood on a debate stage raising their hands in answer to this question...

Brett Baier: "Say you had a deal, 10-1, as Byron (York) said, spending cuts to tax increases....who on this stage would walk away from that deal? Would you raise your hand if you feel so strongly about not raising taxes that you would walk away from that deal.?"

Woe Is Obama & The Democrats

Just one week old, June already is proving a cruel month for President Barack Obama and the Democrats — and it could get a lot worse.

Free To Suppress Voting

By The Reverend Published: June 5, 2012

In general election 2000, Republicans did everything in their power to stop the recount of Florida ballots. From the Brooks Brothers faux-riot to the overruling of states rights by the states rights-loving conservatives on the Rehnquist Court.....election 2000 was a case study on what Republicans will do to rig the outcome of elections.

Secretary of State, Katherine Harris, GOP officials in Florida today.....obeyed her master, Jebby.....and culled the rolls of Florida registered voters prior to the general election in 2000 and then later, still following Jebby's lead, certified a state vote count that wasn't completely counted.

Sparks Will Fly In June

By The Reverend Published: June 4, 2012

June is a big month on the political calendar. Two significant Supreme Court rulings will come down....settling (maybe) Arizona's "papers please" law and whether the federal government can regulate interstate commerce, if that commerce is healthcare insurance. I think that both Republicans and Democrats are planning to play off of these two June Supremes decisions in significant ways....and most likely, both decisions will play a role in the upcoming presidential election.

Those rulings will come later in the month....but recall election day up in Wisconsin. A big political day, to be sure. Earlier this year, Wisconsin voters collected more than enough signatures to recall GOP Governor Scott Walker. Voters in Wisconsin were enraged with Walker's "divide and conquer" tactics....

Vet This

By The Reverend Published: June 1, 2012

I've noticed kind of a theme being woven by those in the conservative media this general election year. It was a theme of the 2008 presidential campaign.....and it didn't work then. But conservative folks, bless their hearts, are just never wrong about's they are going back and replaying what didn't work in 2008 in the hopes that THIS TIME.....people will pay attention.

What am I babbling about? Vetting.
