Attorney General Alberto Gonzales might have a future in stand-up. That is, a future in stand-up AFTER serving a prison sentence that he so richly deserves for lawbreaking of mass proportions.
Gonzales just had to have been practicing his one liners today when he said the following.....
"I believe very strongly that there is no place for political considerations in the hiring of our career employees or in the administration of justice," he said. "As such, these allegations have been troubling to hear. From my perspective, there are two options available in light of these allegations. I would walk away or I could devote my time, effort and energy to fix the problems. Since I have never been one to quit, I decided that the best course of action was to remain here and fix the problems." Link
Can you even imagine Alberto saying something like this and being, like, all serious and stuff? Too funny.
The Reverend listened to and watched Gonzales, just weeks ago, lie repeatedly to Congress while answering questions from Senators and House members alike over many of "these allegations" that have been oh-so "troubling to hear". He lied so many times he couldn't keep his lies straight.
"...no place for political considerations in the hiring....." He's a jokester alright.....hold on while I wipe my eyes from the laughter.....okay, that's better...where was I? Oh yeah. That was the ONLY consideration his Justice department human resources hitmen(and hitwomen) used while hiring. Sure they asked other questions but the wink-wink, nod-nod, question was "will you be a loyal Bushie?"
And I'll give you one guess WHO made sure that this political consideration practice in hiring was fully implemented? There you are....Alberto himself. Now honestly, how funny can one Attorney General be?
Here's how funny....he's going to stick around and "fix the problems." Standing ovation material, that. The guy who carried out the bidding of George and Karl, the guy responsible for breaking the Justice Department, the guy who turned every department and agency he could into an extension of the Republican National Committee,.....is going to "fix" the mess.
Whether the questions he'll be asked tomorrow by Leahy and Schumer will be as chuckle producing as today's laughathon is yet to be seen. Gonzales will be appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
