Today In Crazy

By The Reverend Published: August 1, 2014

The Guardian reports that over 1400 Palestinians have now been killed in Gaza. That breaks the previous death count record Israel had racked up in the 2009 Gaza slaughter. Death toll for Israel: 56 Israeli soldier deaths and 3 Israeli civilian deaths. The Palestinian wounded number now stands at 8200.

A 72 hour ceasefire has been declared starting at 8AM this morning. It's being called a humanitarian other words, the bodies need removed from the battle field, I guess, so that more can be added after the humanitarian ceasefire ends.

Hold on a sec......this just in.....

A Palestinian official says Israeli shelling has killed at least 27 Palestinians in southern Gaza as an Israel-Hamas truce unraveled less than hours after coming into effect.

Do you know what Republicans are really sick of? Republicans are goddamn sick and tired of President Obama acting on his own....issuing executive orders and so forth, just like every U.S. president has done. Republicans are so sick of Obama doing what every president before him has done that they voted to sue Obama.

Yessiree.....if there is one complaint Republicans have about Obama, it's that he just does what HE wants to do....all the time acting if he doesn't need to consult Congress. Who does Obama think he is.....king?

After a last-minute search for ways to address the flood of unaccompanied immigrant children coming across the southern border, the House Republican leadership was forced to cancel a vote on an emergency funding bill that would allocate $659 million to bolster the cash-strapped agencies dealing with the crisis.

Citing "intense concern within our conference...about the need to ensure the security of our borders and the president's refusal to faithfully execute our laws," Republican leaders instead said the president should focus on steps he can take without the need for congressional access to address the crisis.

"focus on steps he can take"......ain't that special? Oh, and take notice of the Village fragrance of CBS's write up......"leadership was forced to cancel a vote." Forced by whom? Themselves. Why? Because House Republicans didn't have the votes.

And once again nation-wrecker, Senator Ted he did when he convinced House Republicans to shut down the government.....plotted with TeaHouse members to "force" useless Speaker Boehner to cancel the scheduled vote.

Elsewhere in exceptional America.....the NYTimes reports....

An internal investigation by the C.I.A. has found that its officers penetrated a computer network used by the Senate Intelligence Committee in preparing its damning report on the C.I.A.’s detention and interrogation program.

Again, Village writers struggle with their euphemisms. "penetrated" a weasel word which should read "hacked". You see, spying or hacking sensitive government computers made Edward Snowden a turncoat-traitor deserving of severe punishment. But when it's the CIA doing the hacking and spying.....on Senate investigation apology from CIA Director Brennan is all that's required. Referred to elsewhere as "equal justice under the law."

But my favorite from yesterday came from a CNN anchor, Bill Weir. First the setup. Fox Nation put up a piece of attempted-mockery directed at Al Gore. Here's a taste....

The Climate Reality Project brought its “I’m Too Hot” trucks and offers of free ice cream to this week’s Environmental Protection Agency hearings on power-plant emissions, but the climate wasn’t cooperating.

The plan was to tout the EPA’s emissions proposal as a solution for hot weather brought on by global warming, but when the hearings began at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Denver, the temperature was a chilly 58 degrees. Plus, it was raining.

The title of the Fox Nation piece was....."Climate doesn't cooperate with Al Gore's Group's visit to Denver EPA hearings."

Of course, climate and weather are two separate and distinct things. That fact led CNN's Bill Weir to respond in a tweet, which he later apologized for, with this gemstone....

"Climate is not weather, you willfully ignorant f**ksticks. Climate doesn't cooperate with Al Gore."

Honest....that's what Weir Tweeted. Naturally when truth is spoken so, let's say, precisely......apologies are mandatory.....and so Weir later Tweeted...."dumb move, my bad."

I think Weir had it right the first time. But then Fox is fair and balanced....and besides is there any evidence that climate isn't cooperating with Al Gore? Huh, huh? Is there?

___________________ is a United States House representative explaining why it is that Obama wants all those teenage Latino immigrants to stay.....

Rep. Michele Bachmann has a new theory about the unaccompanied minors fleeing violence in Central America who have come in large numbers to the southern U.S. border: they are future victims of a liberal plot to use unwilling children for medical experiments.

Of course. I don't know why I didn't think of that. All the clues have been screaming "medical experiments on unwilling children." That must be what Michelle Obama has been setting up with all her commie-tyrant emphasis on kids eating more fruits and vegetables.

But what's really funny is this response by Daily Kos writer, Hunter.....

The origins of this theory are long and complex and more than a little batshit crazy.....The short version is that the conservative movement is absolutely batshit crazy, and a sizable portion of all the people they elect are similarly batshit crazy, and they all get their news from batshit crazy news sources staffed by batshit crazy people until everything is just a blur of crazy-ass conspiracy theories that they've convinced themselves of primarily because a bunch of equally batshit crazy people claim they believe them as well.

I op for the "short version." Seems about right to me.
