This from the Jerusalem Post.....
By emphasizing the comparative body counts without providing the reasons for the disparity, the media plays into the hands of Hamas, and encourages that terrorist organization to continue to pursue its dead baby strategy.
The latest body count scoreboard report is 296 dead Palestinians, 1 dead Israeli soldier.
If that is not offensive enough......then go here. Look at the pictures. It seems that the brutal slaughter of nowhere-to-go Gazans has now become an exciting spectator sport in Israel. Perhaps the U.S. military complex can learn something here.
CNN correspondent Diana Magnay happened to be where the slaughter-spectators were and tweeted this when she heard Israeli spectators cheering the airstrikes....
"Israelis on hill above Sderot cheer as bombs land on #gaza; threaten to 'destroy our car if I say a word wrong'. Scum," she wrote.
For that Magnay was removed from Israel and reassigned to Moscow.
I can't decide which is uglier. Israeli slaughter spectators cheering the killing of Palestinian women and children......or CNN's spinelessness.
Whoever is uglier....the fact is THAT is what the U.S. government is supporting, and with our tax dollars. Favorable media coverage of Israel's inexcusable slaughter of civilians, unanimous congressional resolutions in support of Israel's right to slaughter those women and children....with both institutions blaming Hamas for the Israeli military-caused slaughter. The Obama administration is "concerned" over the civilian death toll. Not exactly a condemnation.
I wonder why all those crazy Muslims would ever want to harm Israel....or Americans, huh? Must be because THOSE people don't value life the same way Israelis and Americans do. Savages, they must be.
Thinking about savages closer to home.....I have another WTF story to share this rainy morning. Immigrant children at the border is all the rage, as I'm sure you're aware.
Rep. Steve Pearce (R-N.M.),....spent the weekend visiting Honduras and Guatemala with six other members of Congress....
The purpose of the trip was to prove that all those teenage Latinos trying to enter the U.S. recently was not on account of the violent environment in such countries as Guatemala and Honduras. See, if wingers can, somehow, show that violence is not the reason for the flood of Latino teenagers....then said wingers can proceed to lie about all of it being caused by Obama's executive orders.
Pearce came away from his visit claiming the violence is not the cause of the teenage migration......and yet....
Congressman Steve Pearce said Wednesday that most immigrants from Central America who are crossing illegally into the United States are driven by economic reasons, not fear of physical danger in their homeland.
Pearce said he and the rest of the House delegation that visited Honduras and Guatemala did not venture from their hotel very often because of the dangers, but the message they received in both countries was consistent: "Send back our children."
Tell me, does it get any better than that?
Yes, Pearce and his winger buddies concluded.....it's not the violence down here motivating teenagers to leave....as they, themselves, hunkered down in their secure hotel rooms "because of the dangers."
Makes you want to break out in a chorus of USA, USA, amirite?
My take on what's next. Israel will continue it's slaughter for another ten days or so. After that....the cycle will repeat. There will be another couple of years of settlement expansion and reinforced apartheid conditions....and then another incident will be choreographed to begin another round of slaughter. Meanwhile the number of Muslims wanting to kill Israelis and Americans will increase....just as the creators of the ridiculous "War on Terror" intended. Yes, that's what I wrote.
No immigration legislation will pass before the congressional recess, just as Republicans want. Obama will, most likely, expedite the return of all those potential Democratic voting Latino kids......while raging conservatives, similar in emotional maturity to those Israeli slaughter spectators, will increase the volume of their "deport them all" cheerleading.
In a way, Republican conservatives and Israeli conservatives are very, very similar. Both are denying the inevitable. Without a two state solution, Israel is threatening it's own existence. Without comprehensive immigration reform, Republicans are threatening their own relevancy as a national political party.
And both will say and do virtually anything to stop the march of world history in the direction of peaceful progress.
