The following is a clip I put together from the last two days Iowa debates. John Edwards, Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, and Rudy Giuliani answer questions specifically on taxes.....
A couple of quick observations. Edwards would "take the tax breaks away from the wealthy and corporations", Hillary wants to "raise taxes on the wealthy and corporations" while "leaving the middle class tax cuts in place". McCain and Huckabee want to "reform the tax code", and McCain, while acknowledging that the lower class in America doesn't pay income tax, also said we "can't raise taxes". Romney "doesn't stay up at night" worrying about how much tax the wealthy are paying but is concerned with middle class taxes. Giuliani would "reduce the income tax burden" so people could buy their own health care!!
Ralph Nader liked to say there wasn't a "dime's worth of difference" between the two major political parties. Ralph Nader was wrong. When taxes are being considered, it's not dimes that make up the difference bwtween the parties.....it's trillions.
