During the period November, 2012 through December, 2013....2258 peer-reviewed articles on climate were written and published by a total of 9137 authors. Only one of the 9137 authors rejected man's contribution to global climate change.
Further, in the last 21 years of peer-reviewed climate literature....only 24 out of 13,950 articles — or two-tenths of a percent — came out and rejected human-caused climate change.
Based on those numbers of peer-reviewed articles....doesn't calling man's contribution to global climate change a "gigantic hoax" seem....well....f**king ridiculous?
Now I suppose the authors of those thousands of peer-reviewed articles over TWENTY ONE YEARS could all be a part of a huge conspiracy to trick other humans into.....I don't know....paying higher electric bills. But what sense would any of that make?
But on a similar note.....would you enjoy learning about the real conspiracy surrounding man's contribution to global climate change....a genuine, bought-and-paid-for conspiracy...with indisputable evidence? I thought you might.
"We have the scientific community telling us that climate change is the greatest crisis facing our planet and the major networks, on their Sunday shows, have devoted all of 8 minutes to discussing that issue," Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said yesterday at a news conference.
Sanders' claim is based on this Media Matters report from all the Sunday news shows for the entire year of 2012.
That's what a real conspiracy looks like. In this case, a conspiracy by ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and FOX to avoid discussing, on their most popular programs, global climate change and man's contribution to global climate change.
The question is....again....why? Why would all major Sunday news shows, not just FOX, purposely ignore discussing such a vitally important issue? I thought our nation's media was supposed to inform the public on all issues of national import. Do you think 8 total minutes over an entire year's worth of multiple-network Sunday news shows is an adequate or appropriate amount of time to properly inform the public on what could be the most serious issue the world has ever faced?
First it's important to understand that our national media is not in the business of informing us on vital issues that we need to know. Corporate media is in the business of making.....profits. Because that is the case, Sunday news shows are about attracting an audience for their commercial sponsors.
It is in the interests of huge corporate sponsors, and owners, of Sunday news shows to avoid discussions about man's contribution to global climate change. Any restrictions or limitations on further carbon-based fuel explorations.....any cap and trade legislation or carbon tax proposals....might impact.....profits....for many of those corporate sponsors.
So....best to avoid the subject altogether, like the networks did in all of 2012.
Now, something strange has happened. Senator Sanders and 15 other senators....
...held a news conference Tuesday to announce the formation of a task force on climate change. The first action by Senate Climate Action Task Force members will be to question why television network Sunday news programs have virtually ignored the issue of climate change.
Summation: If this all seems ass-backwards.....it's because it is. The job of the "press" is to righteously inform the public on what's vital for us to know....so that we can make sound and informed decisions. In particular, the job of the "press" is to inform us on what our elected officials are doing.....the idea being that elected government can't really ever be fully trusted.
But what we have here with Sanders task force announcement is.....elected officials investigating the media to find out why they have refused to inform the public about the dangers of man's contribution to global climate change.
One of the reasons why I began blogging was what I saw as a corrupt and compromised national corporate media that increasingly disinformed the public for the sake of the interests of the powerful....either in the corporate world or in government. I can say without any reservations that the problem has only gotten worse over these last 6 or 7 years.
So much so....that now U.S. senators are going to investigate why corporate media news shows are perpetuating, by their silence, the hoax that man made global climate change doesn't exist.
