Blog of Mass Destruction

Today's edition....

"It will be the Democratic left, which is probably immune to any news of success in Iraq, against the middle-of-the-road America," said Matthew Woessner, a political expert at Pennsylvania State University.

"A nightmare scenario for any party is when the pressure, the sum total of the pressures from their constituency groups, are out of step with mainstream America. That's a prescription for electoral disaster," he added. Link

I keep hearing this specific version of "winger-mindedness", mostly by the sycophants in the Knee Pad Media, you know, the smart insiders. They just can't get that "winger" maggot-infested bullsh*t out of their elitist, yet clueless, minds.

To hear today's "winger-mindedness" entry, "middle-of-the-road" or "mainstream" Americans just don't want to get out of Iraq. You know, they're the sensible folks who aren't like those pinko-commie-Islamofascist-loving leftists who only want to wave white "surrender monkey" flags. "Middle of the road, mainstream" Americans don't want anything to do with that stinking bunch of anti-war hippies, you know, like over at Daily Kos....those guys. They are all just sooooo out of touch with the "center" of American thinking about the quagmire formerly known as the country, Iraq.

Yea though I walk through the valley of wingnuts, the truth still comforts me.

The latest American polling about Iraq....

"From what you have seen or heard about the situation in Iraq, what should the United States do now? Should the U.S. increase the number of U.S. troops in Iraq, keep the same number of U.S. troops in Iraq as there are now, decrease the number of U.S. troops in Iraq, or remove all its troops from Iraq?"

August 8-12, 2007 poll question results: 62% of Americans responded "decrease" or "remove" the troops. 30% said "increase" or "stay the same". Link

"Middle-of-the-road, mainstream" Americans, umm...would be the 62%, not, like, the 30%. Those who still, after 4 years, shake pom-poms for Bush's war of choice are not "mainstream". Those who still, after 4 years, want to give it just a bit more time because some political ploy branded the "surge" might be showing progress, are not mainstream, middle of the road Americans. They are radicals, extremists,...who are OUTSIDE of the mainstream.

The center of American thinking left the neo-conservative warmongering station a couple of years ago. Democrats who are pushing to get out of Iraq, intelligently not recklessly, are reflecting the center of America.

"Staying the course" that's a "prescription for electoral disaster"...and that's why fearful GOP'ers are telling Georgie something has to change.

It goes without saying that wingnuts say the craziest things. So I won't say it.
