It's The Crime AND The Cover Up

By The Reverend Published: March 23, 2017

The following helps to explain why GOP House Intelligence Chair, Devin Nunes, intentionally released classified information yesterday meant to create a distraction. More on that after this bombshell drop from CNN last evening....

The FBI has information that indicates associates of President Donald Trump communicated with suspected Russian operatives to possibly coordinate the release of information damaging to Hillary Clinton's campaign, US officials told CNN.

This is partly what FBI Director James Comey was referring to when he made a bombshell announcement Monday before Congress that the FBI is investigating the Trump campaign's ties to Russia, according to one source.

One law enforcement official said the information in hand suggests "people connected to the campaign were in contact and it appeared they were giving the thumbs up to release information when it was ready."

Let's Make A Deal....Or Not

By The Reverend Published: March 22, 2017

The problem with the "establishment elitists" who have all but destroyed America, according to you-know-who, was that they didn't know how to make deals. They were bad negotiators, or just "stupid",....but if Uncle DealMaker won the election against Crooked Hillary, he would show the country what it's like to have a real DealMaker, a Successful Businessman, in the White House making terrific and tremendous deals. Believe me.

And 46% of voters did believe him, punched his ticket, and stood back to await the "so much winning" part of those promises. Well, Uncle Donnie has now had a great opportunity to prove his negotiating and deal making chops....with fellow Republicans in the House. Depending on which media flavor you've selected today....it's so hard to choose which version of a news story you want to hear nowadays.....either Uncle Donnie knocked the phucking cover off the ball when he sat down with House Republicans yesterday and again this morning...or NBC has it right....

Yesterday morning, we wrote that 17 House Republicans opposed or leaned strongly against the GOP health-care plan that's scheduled for a vote Thursday. Then President Trump visited Capitol Hill and appeared to threaten GOP lawmakers, saying that they could lose re-election in the 2018 midterms if they vote against the GOP health-care bill, NBC's Leigh Ann Caldwell writes. After that visit, the number of Republicans opposing or leaning strongly against the legislation grew to 27, per NBC News' count — when Trump and GOP leaders can't afford more than 21 defections.

Let's see if we can discover Trump's secret to successful deal making, check that, terrific deal making, from what NBC has reported. Before Uncle DealMaker met with Republicans only 17 House members planned on voting against the Trump-Ryan AHCA proposal. After Trump's terrific and tremendous deal making skills were exercised, in what surely was an amazing and tremendous display of master crafting, 27 House Republicans said they opposed the piece of...legislation.

The Still Not Winning Report

By The Reverend Published: March 22, 2017

Not winning...

Sears, once the monolith of American retail, says that there is "substantial doubt" that it will be able to keep its doors open.

Company shares, which hit an all-time low last month, tumbled more than 5 percent before the opening bell Wednesday.

Sears employs...wait for it....140,000 people. But Trump says he saved 4000 Carrier jobs, so, you know.

Democrats Should Walk Away From Tainted Gorsuch Nomination

By The Reverend Published: March 21, 2017

I watched a part of today's Judge Gorsuch hearing. He's quite the talker. Quite a talker, that is, who doesn't really say anything. There's no reason to pay much attention to the Gorsuch hearings. He's a pro-corporation, pro-religious-discrimination, pro-torture, judge, who despite all his blabberings today about precedent....will vote to repeal Roe at the first opportunity. The guy is not a Heritage Foundation favorite without good reason.

One of the Village discussions concerning Gorsuch's nomination is...what will Senate Democrats do? Will Democrats provide the 8 votes necessary to avoid a filibuster....or will Mitchy have to go nuclear....and eliminate the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees?

Those are the wrong questions. The question is: why are Democrats even participating in the Gorsuch hearings? Political phucking correctness?

Last March, Senate Republicans, metaphorically, told Obama and Senate Democrats to go phuck themselves over expecting to get a hearing for Merrick Garland, let alone an up or down vote. So, going along with Republicans by attending hearings for Gorsuch is just surrendering to the new confederacy. That's not resistance, that's capitulation.

Properly Punishing America's Poorest

By The Reverend Published: March 21, 2017

Even though the Congressional Budget Office scoring of the Trump-Ryan AHCA projected some 14 million Americans would lose Medicaid coverage next year...and even though that same CBO score projected another 12 million would lose Medicaid coverage by 2026.....for the new confederate army whose freak fly flies under the moniker of the Freedom Caucus....the AHCA just didn't go far enough in punishing poorer Americans.

So, Donald met with representatives of the new confederate House army to see if there were other ways to punish the poor that, if included, could win over the votes of those who liberals often refer to as, well, inhumane savages. And wonder of wonders, there were two changes that would more efficiently, and thoroughly, punish the poor...that Donald agreed to include in his Affordable Hellish Care Act....

The changes include two measures that conservative Republican Study Committee members won at the White House on Friday: allowing states to require Medicaid recipients to work and allowing states to choose a Medicaid block grant over the cap system in the current bill.

Which proves when savage heads come together as one, there are always new and fresh ideas that come forward on how better to punish America's poor. The requirement to "work" to get Medicaid is a pre-emptive, forward-looking idea because those who currently are beneficiaries of Obamacare's Medicaid expansion...already work, already have jobs. And those expansion folks will automatically lose Medicaid next year.

Better Than Expected

By The Reverend Published: March 20, 2017

James Comey today....

"I've been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm that the FBI as part of our counterintelligence mission is investigating the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election. That includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government, and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia's efforts."

There we have it. The DOJ is, in fact, investigating whether or not "individuals associated with the Trump campaign" were coordinating with "Russia's efforts" to make Donald Trump the president of the U.S.

As expected, committee Republicans, not all, but many, sought to push the Q&A session in the direction of something, something, Obama wire tapppps. Many Republicans went after the media, just as Trump does. Almost all Republicans, even after Comey's early claim in the session that the DOJ is investigating the Trump-Russian connection, tried to make the leakers of damaging information to the Trumpers the central quest of the hearing.

No Light Will Come Out Of Today's Hearing

By The Reverend Published: March 20, 2017

Here's what Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., said yesterday on NBC's "Meet the Press" about the Trump-Russian connection...

"I would characterize it this way, at the outset of the investigation, there was circumstantial evidence of collusion. There was direct evidence, I think, of deception."

This morning, starting at 10AM, the House Intelligence Committee will hold an open session where James Comey and former NSA director, Republican Mike Rogers, are expected to answer questions about the Trump-Russian connection and something, something Obama wire tapppps.

Republican Committee members will focus their questions on the something, something...while Democrats will focus their questions on that circumstantial evidence of Trump-Russian collusion and the direct evidence of Trumper deception over connections with the Russians.

Long Live Rock N Roll...Long Live Congressional Gridlock

By The Reverend Published: March 19, 2017

Long live rock n roll.

Chuck Berry died yesterday at age 90.

There have been lots of discussions over the decades seeking to answer the question: who is the king of rock n roll. From my childhood forward, I've never had to wrestle with that question. Chuck Berry was the king. Chuck Berry WAS rock n roll. Full stop.

Trump Proves He's An Assholian

By The Reverend Published: March 18, 2017

Two weeks ago today, Donald Trump took control of a media narrative which had been focusing on possible perjury charges against Attorney General Jeff Sessions for lying to a Senate committee while under oath about having met with the Russian ambassador in his office in September of last year, during the presidential campaign...a campaign in which Sessions served as Trump's surrogate.

Two weeks ago today, the media narrative seemed poised to finally focus like a laser on Trump-Russian connections. And then Donald tweeted out a new conspiracy theory about Obama wire-tapping him, or Trump Towers, during last year's campaign....a theory which had no basis in fact...a theory Trump had heard just the night before either from Fox's Brett Baier or lunatic Mark Levin. A theory that anyone who has been paying attention knew was total malarkey the moment they read Trump's tweets.

And then, main media people spent the next two weeks, and counting, going to great and exhaustive lengths discussing the numerous scenarios, histories, and possibilities wherein Trump's wire-tap tweet could be, somehow, plausible. Teevee media anchors and guests toggled back and forth between being outraged...and asking deep and Serious questions over just how those tweets might be based on fact.

Having successfully commandeered main media's narrative for almost two weeks, Donald then sent the hapless Sean Spicer out Thursday to tell the White House press corps that Obama had British intelligence do the wire-tapping of Donald for him....all based on something, something, that Fox's odious "Judge" Andrew Napolitano had said recently.

The "Populist's" Budget

By The Reverend Published: March 17, 2017

I have learned to not take presidential budgets too seriously. White House budgets are a political statement more than anything else and that is particularly so with Trump's budget. So, it's unsurprising to see Donald's budget proposing to eliminate 19 federal government agencies. The Trump-Bannon White House plan is to eviscerate the federal government as a way of overthrowing the federal government en route to returning the U.S. to its pre-Constitution days when states had more power than Washington.

There's nothing sacred or magical about "smaller government"....instead, what smaller government means in practicable terms is taking from the poors and the powerless and giving to the rich and the powerful. And, indeed, that is exactly what the confederate House has proposed, and will continue to propose. What is interesting, however, is how these new confederates describe what it is they are proposing....

(Trump budget director, Mick) Mulvaney described the budget blueprint, which calls for dramatic cuts to domestic spending programs in favor of increased funding for the military, as “one of the most compassionate things we can do.”

See how interesting that description is? Deeply cutting "domestic spending programs"...on the poors and powerless...."in favor of increased funding for the military"....for the powerful military-industrial-complex....is "one of the most compassionate things we can do." It's like a joke line from SNL....but it isn't a joke.
