Frontrunning Clowns Making Yuuge! Miscalculation

By The Reverend Published: November 21, 2015

It's bizarre. The city of Paris, France experiences a violent extremist attack which kills 130 people and injures three times that number....and in under a week's time, using U.S. media as your guide, you would think that the attack occurred inside the U.S.

Even if something bad happens that has nothing directly to do with America, really, still is treated by most of the pundits and politicians as if the bad thing that didn't happen in America actually did happen inside the U.S.

Like I mentioned...bizarre.

Consider: French President Francois Hollande promised to honor his commitment to take in tens of thousands of refugees on Wednesday. He said France would do so despite concerns raised by ultra-right nationalist leaders that refugees might pose a security threat to the country. .....Hollande said France would welcome 30,000 refugees over the next two years. That’s even more than the 24,000 he committed to accepting in September.

"We're Going To Have To Do Some Things...."

By The Reverend Published: November 20, 2015

The Real Clear Politics polling averages are now starting to reflect a noticeable slide in Dr Odd Carson's numbers. Nationally, the averaging polls have Trump 24.6%, Carson 21.8%, Rubio 12.4% and Theo Cruz at 11%. Iowa has Trump and Dr Odd still in a dead heat...but in the state where the primary voters are unique, and uniquely, I guess, patriotic, the extremely important state with a whopping 4 electoral votes, New Hampshire, Trump leads with 26.3% to second place holder BoyMarco at 12.3%, Carson slipping to third with 11.3%.

Hysteria has reigned this week in the home of the brave. Exceptional hysteria, naturally, because of who we are. We are Americans, after all. Everything we do, or even think about doing, must be exceptionally unique in comparison to other unexceptional nations...even our mass hysteria outbreaks. U.S.A., U.S.A.

The man who still leads the GOP Clown Contest, Donald Trump, a terrific and tremendous proponent of American you might expect....has taken advantage of a terrorist attack in France, the country formerly known during the exceptional presidency of George W. Bush as "those cheese-eating surrender-monkeys", to prove how exceptional American exceptionalism really is...

“We’re going to have to do things that we never did before,” he said during a Yahoo interview.

Clown Stunts

By The Reverend Published: November 19, 2015

It did not even take a week for GOP insurgents in the House to parade a new political stunt in front of their gullible, no-information voting base.

In a 289-137 vote, the House on Thursday easily approved legislation that requires new screening requirements on refugees from Syria and Iraq before they can enter the United States.

Forty-seven Democrats defied President Obama’s veto threat and backed the bill — just short of enough to override a presidential veto if all members are present.

The legislation would prevent any refugees from Syria or Iraq from entering the United States until the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and Director of National Intelligence certify that none of them are dangerous.

Come Flail Away

By The Reverend Published: November 19, 2015

The always-wrong George Will.....

Fortunately, sufficient days remain for Republicans to reshuffle the deck, to relegate Trump’s rampaging to the nation’s mental attic, and to recognize in Christie (!!) a serious political talent.

From this morning's The Hill....

Donald Trump has gained political strength since the Paris terrorist attacks last Friday, according to most of the polls released in the aftermath....... it seems that Republican voters have found themselves drawn to Trump’s emphatic rhetoric.

This Is The Obama We've Been Missing

By The Reverend Published: November 18, 2015

No word yet on how many waaambulances were called to the Morning Blow set this morning...or number of grief counselors...or cases of Depends....but man what a collective emotional shite-fit. The fee-fees of every Blow contributor today were reported to have been deeply bruised, probably requiring lengthy counseling sessions before they'll heal. And all over that petulant, tone-deaf President Obama who dared to speak clearly while taking questions in the Philippines.....

"All the work that we've been doing in our intelligence communities and our military over the last decade is in recognition of the fact that this is something we should be concerned about and we've got to work hard to prevent it.

But we are not well-served when, in response to a terrorist attack, we descend into fear and panic. We don't make good decisions if it's based on hysteria or an exaggeration of risks.

I think the refugee debate is an example of us not being well-served by some of the commentary that’s been taking place by officials back home and in the media."

Purely Coincidental?

By The Reverend Published: November 18, 2015

"It was continuous. It didn't stop," he said. "It lasted from 4:20 until 5:30. It was a good hour. I couldn't say how many shots were fired, but it was probably 500. Hundreds, definitely. There were maybe 10 explosions."

That is a description of what took place in the early hours this morning in Paris. Authorities there believed the so-called mastermind of last Friday's Paris attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, was holed up. One woman blew herself up and one man also died in the raid.

....the operation began with a pre-dawn shootout and resulted in the capture of three people inside the apartment,...

No word yet on whether any of the three captured was the "architect" of Friday night's attack.

The Mad-Daddy Party

By The Reverend Published: November 17, 2015

Okay...I've seen and heard enough from all the ninnies who work for all of the usual-ninny-suspect outlets to offer up what I had hoped would not be a scathing criticism....but alas, it was not to be.

It is a good thing that Americans do not form their opinions of America, the country, from corporate media members. Because if we did, there would be many more Americans this week who despise the country.

First...the Syrian refugee "controversy".

What we are witnessing is another Gitmo detainee hysteria situation. Jaded Republicans, with the full knowledge that W had released 500 Gitmo detainees while he was in office, ginned up a fever-pitched frenzy of hysteria in 2009 when President Obama called for the closing of Gitmo and the transfer of truly dangerous detainees to maximum security prisons inside the U.S. The hysteria was made from whole hysterical cloth, and the manufactured hysteria was purely a political stunt to create a (false) perception that Republicans were keeping the country safe.

Are We Really At War?

By The Reverend Published: November 17, 2015

Back when W launched the "long war" he used the foil of the Taliban to justify his Bigfoot military occupation of Afghanistan. The enemy after 9-11 were those who orchestrated the 9-11 attack, but immediately after the Towers fell, "those who harbored al-Qaeda" were thrown into the enemy list mix. That inclusion gave the Bush administration cover for his Bigfoot military-occupation plan for Afghanistan....which was really only a brief headfake in Dick Cheney's plan to militarily occupy Iraq.

The Taliban were soon conflated in the minds of Americans with al-Qaeda, who were, at best, a smallish band of stateless killers. The Afghanistan "war" quickly devolved into a 14 year-long struggle with the Taliban, who actually had nothing to do with 9-11.

Those 14 years were filled with references to al-Qaeda "soldiers" and "warriors". The use of the words "battlefield" and "we're at war"...and the constant forced-comparisons with previous wars against states...became commonplace.

All of that over-hyped and dishonest "war" rhetoric has now led to claims by U.S. presidential candidates in 2015 that what we're facing with ISIS killers is a "clash of civilizations". That is not true either.

Land Of The Brave

By The Reverend Published: November 17, 2015

The response inside the U.S. to the Paris attacks is even worse than I imagined it would be, proving again that it is impossible today to be too cynical.

I have heard a sitting U.S. senator warn that Apple surely doesn't want to be known as the preferred cell phone maker of ISIS extremists. That, in reference to Apple encryption. The implication was clear. Either give the U.S. government the backdoor key to that encryption, or something very destructive just might happen to Apple. Jeb Can Fix It said that American intelligence needs that meta-data from all Americans' electronic communications. So, stoke that Mighty Hoover up again. Trump wants to start closing up U.S. mosques...but do it in a, you know, terrific way. The bloodlusting is palpable. No one knows what would be the right thing to do...but they all know we need to kill more people and reject more U.S. guaranteed rights as provided in the Constitution in order to keep us all safe for freedom.

Yesterday, Obama fielded questions from a press corps which had apparently shite their pants. If you haven't watched it yet, I recommend doing so. Obama does an excellent job carefully and patiently answering the same question from U.S. media personnel over and over...which was basically, 'why, Mr President, have you failed so miserably?'

In Obama's response to questions, he delivered a devastating bitchslap to Jeb Can Fix It for suggesting that the U.S. only admit Christian refugees fleeing from the Syrian civil war. Here is what Jeb Can Fix It told Jake Tapper on Sunday....

Much Needed Perspective

By The Reverend Published: November 16, 2015

Stuff to do today. But I have some recommended articles for readers to consider. The first is found here. The author Chris Floyd doesn't mince words, instead he examines the Paris attacks from a longer and larger narrative perspective that goes back decades. A taste...

I write in despair. Despair of course at the depravity displayed by the murderers of innocents in Paris tonight; but an even deeper despair at the depravity of the egregious murderers who have brought us to this ghastly place in human history: those gilded figures who have strode the halls of power for decades in the high chambers of the West, killing innocent people by the hundreds of thousands, crushing secular opposition to their favored dictators — and again, again and again — supporting, funding and arming some of the most virulent sectarians on earth.

Going all the way back to the overthrow of the democratic government of Iran in 1953, the United States has deliberately and consciously pushed the most extreme sectarian groups in order to undermine a broader-based secular resistance to its domination agenda.
