"Your Presidency Is Over".....Or Not

By The Reverend Published: July 5, 2015

Almost one year ago.....Assholian Emeritus, Chuck Todd, NBC's Very Serious political news director offered up some of his wisdom....

“This poll is a disaster for the president. You look at the presidency here: Lowest job rating, tied for the lowest; lowest on foreign policy. His administration is seen as less competent than the Bush administration, post-Katrina. On the issue of do you believe he can still lead? A majority believe no. Essentially the public is saying your presidency is over.”

Last week....

For the first time in more than two years, 50% of Americans approve of the way Obama is handling the presidency. And his overall ratings are bolstered by increasingly positive reviews of his treatment of race relations and the economy ... The new poll shows Obama's approval rating up five points since a May survey, when just 45% approved of the job he was doing as president and 52% disapproved.

Independence....From The U.S. Constitution

By The Reverend Published: July 4, 2015

Conservative polling outfit, Rasmussen, posted on Friday the results of a new poll taken concerning federal courts and federal court rulings.

Fifty percent (50%) of GOP voters (and 50% of conservatives) now believe states should have the right to ignore federal court rulings, compared to just 22% of Democrats and 30% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Interestingly, this represents a noticeable rise in support among all three groups.

...even more disturbing is that the voters who feel strongest about overriding the federal courts – Republicans and conservatives - are those who traditionally have been the most supportive of the Constitution and separation of powers. During the Obama years, however, these voters have become increasingly suspicious and even hostile toward the federal government.

No doubt there is some gay marriage sour-grapes afterglow reflected by conservatives in those numbers. But think about the implications on this Independence Day. Today as we celebrate independence from British rule, one half of all Republicans and conservatives in the U.S. believe that individual states of the USA "should have the right to ignore federal court rulings." One out of every two Republicans/conservatives think individual states of the U.S. should declare independence from federal U.S. courts.

Trumping The GOP

By The Reverend Published: July 3, 2015

GOP party members are worried about Donald Trump....

"I don't think what he said hurts the field yet," added a Republican operative working on behalf of a 2016 candidate. "But if he is allowed on the debate stage and can perform like the showman he is. He is not a serious candidate; he is a self-promoter. I don't think he cares one lick about party and that makes him dangerous to the process."

You can almost taste the bitterness.

Just for the helluva it, here is what that Republican operative doesn't think has hurt the GOP field of candidates "yet."

No One Likes An Un-Self-Aware Clown

By The Reverend Published: July 2, 2015

How good is America's record on human rights?

The U.S. imprisons around 730 in every 100,000 people — the highest incarcerated population in the world — Department of Justice data shows. Once again, the U.S. has beat any other nation in terms of its number of prisoners and prisons. There are currently around 2.2 million people behind bars, “equal to a city the size of Houston,” noted Bloomberg News. There are 4,575 prisons in operation in the U.S., more than four times the number of second-place Russia at 1,029.

According to California Prison Focus, “no other society in human history has imprisoned so many of its own citizens.”

Voting rights in the U.S. are under siege from Republicans hoping to game our electoral system. Obama claims he has the right to assassinate a U.S. citizen on his say so, and nothing else. America wages wars in multiple countries without UN or U.S. Congressional approval. Unequal justice is seen in every legal case against a celebrity or rich person, legal cases that would wind up placing any average citizen behind bars.

Are The Powers Of The Federal Government Limited?

By The Reverend Published: July 2, 2015

Scott Walker, as of this moment an undeclared Clown, is often praised by the Koch Brothers, ALEC, and Tea Party conservatives for his strong belief in "limited government". U.S. conservatives often repeat that phrase....."limited government" one of their loftiest principles. If you ask a conservative what they are in favor of.....more than likely the two words..."limited government"....will be one of the answers.

Here is an 18th century almost-Founder, Robert Yates, from New York, a "limited government" guy, explaining why he backed away from signing on to the Constitution....

“This government is to possess absolute and uncontrollable power, legislative, executive and judicial, with respect to every object to which it extends. … The government then, so far as it extends, is a complete one. … It has the authority to make laws which will affect the lives, the liberty, and the property of every man in the United States; nor can the constitution or the laws of any state, in any way prevent or impede the full and complete execution of every power given.”

Scott Walker, et al.....are the modern day equivalents of Robert Yates. If Scott Walker, or Ted Cruz, or Rand Paul or, or....had attended the Constitutional Convention of 1787, they would have also refused to sign the Constitution for the same reasons that Robert Yates mentioned....that is.....the Constitution gave the federal government of the U.S. the right "to possess absolute and uncontrollable power, legislative, executive and judicial, with respect to every object which it extends..."

Nothing at all wrong with Erickson holding this event. Also, there is nothing wrong with me pointing out the ideology of Erick Erickson as set forward TODAY at Fox News.

But first....

That didn't take long. Fox's Todd Starnes....

"Record-breaking floods have inundated Washington, D.C. just days after the Supreme Court decided they knew better than God. I seem to remember another time in history when there was a record-breaking flood." He added: "God painted the sky with rainbow colors after that flood. This go-around - Obama painted the White House with rainbow colors. Anybody got an ark?"

Conveniently, conservatives have now found their response to all future questions over weather calamities caused through the process of a warming planet. And it has nothing to do with greenhouse gases, CO2 emissions or mankind's addiction to burning fossil fuels. Also, too...forget that consensus of climate scientists.

If you pay attention to comments like those of Todd Starnes moving forward, you'll be privileged to watch a new myth created in real time and out of whole gay marriage cloth. It's not global climate change, you see, that will be causing sea level rises and heavier rainfalls and more powerful's god pulling back his protective hand from America for legalizing gay marriages.

The Clown Who "Tells It Like It Is"

By The Reverend Published: June 30, 2015

14 years of covering Chris Christie has led one New Jersey reporter to tell readers what we should know about the New Jersey GOP governor of today, a candidate in the GOP primary.

Don't believe a word the man says.

There it is. Short and sour. But true.

In an article full of examples of Christie lying with a straight face, this one is special....

No Specific Threat, No Credible Evidence...Just Be Scared

By The Reverend Published: June 29, 2015

Last Friday...

Federal authorities have warned local law enforcement officials across the country about a heightened concern involving possible terror attacks targeting the July 4th holiday, a U.S. law enforcement official said.

While there was no specific or credible threat of attack, the official said the intelligence bulletin prepared by the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI alerted local colleagues to the ongoing threats posed by the Islamic State and other homegrown extremists. The official was not authorized to comment publicly.

In a statement Friday following attacks in Tunisia, France and Kuwait, DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson said local law enforcement was being encouraged to be "vigilant and prepared'' in preparation for July 4th celebrations.

The Morality Tale Within The Greek Crisis

By The Reverend Published: June 29, 2015

What Greece is faced with this coming weekend is, again, a choice. Surrender to a future dictated by bond traders, banksters and EU politicians who insist that balancing the bean counting books for the sake of "investors" takes precedent over the lives of Greek citizens....or....flip those banksters and bean counters the bird and vote against the " and forever" proposal, renege on their debt, flee the EU and the euro....and start over. Neither choice is a good one.

Read Krugman's take on the Greece crisis today at the NY Times.

The Greek crisis will give U.S. skimmers a great opportunity to gut American workers' 401K's this week, although as of this moment, the DOW is only off some 130 we'll see.

What seems completely off-kilter in the Greek economic crisis is how it is representative of what elitists in finance and politics have been encouraging for the economies of many countries in the wake of the Great Bankster Caper.
