Akron City Council has added its voice to the outcry against installing a second juvenile court judge in Summit County.
Council approved a resolution Monday urging the Ohio Senate and Gov. John Kasich to remove an amendment to the state budget by Reps. Anthony DeVitis and Marilyn Slaby, the two Republican representatives from Summit County, that would add another juvenile court judge in the county.
"They deserve a big fat F for failure," Councilman Jeff Fusco said of the representatives. "There's no way this makes sense."
Council approved the resolution Monday after hearing from Juvenile Court Judge Linda Tucci Teodosio, who told them a second judge isn't needed and would cost the county more than $300,000, taking money from other valuable court programs.
Councilman Ken Jones, who works for juvenile court, abstained from the vote.
Summit County Council passed a similar resolution last Monday.
