Akron council praises Fudge for opening Akron office

Akron City Council passed a resolution this week praising U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge for opening a district office in Akron.

Fudge had an open house over the weekend at her new office in Lawton Street Community Center, 1225 Lawton St.

Councilman Mike Williams said the office opening shows that Fudge, whose newly configured district stretches from Cleveland to Akron, cares about her southern-most constituents.

"We often take a second seat to our neighbors to the north," he said. "By this example, she is showing she recognizes our uniqueness."

Councilwoman Linda Omobien said Fudge has shown her commitment to the Akron area, including by meeting with local elected officials.

"She wants to hear from us and wants to serve us," Omobien said.

Fudge, D-Warrensville Heights, will keep her district office in her hometown and in Washington, D.C.
