Akron mayor talks to Bloomberg about mayors meeting

By Stephanie Warsmith Published: June 23, 2014

Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic was interviewed by Bloomberg today to discuss the topics at the just-completed U.S. Conference of Mayors meeting in Dallas.

Plusquellic said the mayors discussed a variety of topics, a reflection of the many issues they handle every day.

"There's a lot of issues that we get involved with beyond just filling chuck holes," he said in the interview, which is about five minutes.

Plusquellic said cities have an interest in climate change and decreasing the carbon footprint. He said he thinks of his grandchildren when it comes to topics like this.

"I want to leave a better world to them," he said.

The meeting was June 20 to 23. Plusquellic is flying back this afternoon in hopes of being at Akron City Council tonight.
