The counting has begun

Polls in Kentucky and Indiana closed at 6 p.m. and the counting has begun. The hot race there is Tea Party favorite Rand Paul in Kentucky, who polling shows is likely to defeat Democrat Jack Conway.

The next states to finish will be Florida, Virginia, Georgia, South Carolina and Vermont. Polls there close at 7 p.m.

Different polls, different results

Two polls released on the eve of Election Day show different results in the Ohio gubernatorial race -- one a tie and the other a victory by Republican John Kasich.

Quinnipiac University, which has showed wide leads for Kasich in the past several weeks, now has Kasich with 47 percent to Democratic incumbent Ted Strickland's 46 percent -- a statistical dead heat
