WOOSTER: U.S. Rep. John Boccieri and businessman Jim Renacci, his GOP challenger, will face off for the first time in a debate in Wooster Monday.
The debate, sponsored by the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce, will focus on economic and business-related issues.
Jeffrey Blevins, the Libertarian candidate for the 16th Congressional District, also will participate, but write-in candidate Robert Ross will not.
The event will be held at the Ohio Agricultural Resource and Development Center's Arden Shisler Conference Center, 1680 Madison Ave. in Wooster, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Four hundred tickets were distributed by the candidates and the chamber.
The local cable station in Wooster will broadcast the debate, at a later date.
The candidates still are in discussion about other possible debates, including one proposed for Canton in mid-October.
The 16th district covers Stark and Wayne counties and parts of Ashland and Medina counties.
