CANTON: The city plans to discipline some snowplow drivers it says staged a "parade" during a protest against proposed changes in public workers' union rights.

Canton city Service Director Warren Price says five or six plow drivers left their routes Tuesday afternoon to take their trucks past demonstrators outside an appearance by Gov. John Kasich. The Repository of Canton reports the drivers honked their horns in support of the protesters.

Price tells the newspaper the drivers' detours violated city work rules.

Republican Kasich supports a bill to limit collective bargaining rights for state workers.

Price has not determined how the drivers will be disciplined. He says the city will start by figuring out what their actions cost the city in terms of fuel and lost work time.
