CLEVELAND: The new county boss in Cleveland is promising to give up five days' pay to share the pain with employees, who must take five furlough days.
Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald said at a county council meeting on Tuesday that the sacrifices asked of employees must start at the top.
The Plain Dealer reports FitzGerald's move will cost him about $3,400.
This is the third straight year that workers must take five unpaid days off to help balance the county's budget.
Those cuts don't include FitzGerald because his salary is set in accordance with the county charter.
