Donofrio running and Crossland considering two seats on filing deadline for May primary

Retired Summit County Fiscal Officer John Donofrio is running for Summit County Council at-large.

Former Summit County Councilman Pete Crossland pulled petitions to either try to regain a county council seat or make a bid for Congress against U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci.

He'll need to decide by 4 p.m. today, which is the filing deadline for the May 6 primary. 

Other highlights include:

* Former Akron councilman Ernie Tarle and former Akron councilman and state representative John Otterman pulled petitions to run for one of the three Summit County Council at-large seats, but neither has filed yet.

* All of the Summit County Council at-large incumbents are running and both the Democrats and Republicans will have a primary.

* Summit County Council members Paula Prentice and Tim Crawford are running for state representative. Prentice, who represents District 8,is  challenging Rep. Anthony DeVitis and Crawford, who represents District 7, is taking on Rep. Marilyn Slaby.

* Every judicial post in Summit County will be contested.
