Ed FitzGerald getting support of Akron unions; firefighters to have event Tuesday

By Stephanie Warsmith Published: May 30, 2014

Ed FitzGerald, the Democratic candidate for governor, is feeling the love from Akron unions.

FitzGerald, the Cuyahoga County executive, spoke at an United Auto Workers hall in February as his counter to Gov. John Kasich's State of the State speech in nearby Medina. He had a fundraiser at the United Steelworkers last week after speaking at the Akron Press Club. And, the Akron fire union plans to have a Dogs and Suds Meet and Greet with FitzGerald next week.

The event at Akron Fire Fighters Local 330 will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the union hall, 161 Massillon Road. Those who attend can meet FitzGerald and other candidates for state and local office. The event is free and open to the public.
