Obama returning to Ohio next week

President Barack Obama, fresh off of visits to Ohio this week including a stop at Kent State, will be back in the Buckeye State next week.

Obama will visit Columbus Thursday evening and Cleveland Friday. More details will be released later, according to his campaign.

Ryan to speak at sportsman's banquet in Columbus

U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, the GOP vice-presidential candidate, will speak at a sportsman's banquet in Columbus Saturday evening.

Ryan will address the National U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance's 16th-annual banquet at the Alladin Shrine Center in Columbus at 6 p.m., according to the campaign.

Obama tickets gone; waiting list being compiled

The tickets for President Barack Obama's visit to Kent State University Wednesday are gone.

Those who didn't get at ticket can ask to be placed on a waiting list at the campaign offices in Kent, 1307 S. Water St., and East Akron, 396 E. Waterloo Road, though there is no guarantee that people on the list will get tickets.

Tea Party express to perform on Medina Square this evening

The Tea Party Express will perform at 5:30 p.m. today at Medina Square.

Organizers said they didn't have enough time to find a large enough venue like they did with Berea in 2010 or Avon Lake in 2011, "so they decided to do their show at the wellspring of conservative grassroots in Ohio, on Medina Square," according to a press release from the American Family Ministry.

Libertarian presidential candidate holding online town hall tonight

Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, the Libertarian presidential nominee, will host an online town hall meeting at 7:30 p.m. today.

 

The town hall will be featured on Vokle.com. To ask questions via video or text, participants may sign into their Facebook accounts or sign up for a Vokle account.

Those who just want to watch the town hall may go to Johnson’s campaign website, www.GaryJohnson2012.com.

National group holds kickoff event in Canton

Thune to speak at Summit GOP finance dinner

U.S. Sen. John Thune will speak at this year's Summit County Republican Party Finance Dinner, which will be Sept. 18 at the Hilton Akron-Fairlawn, 3180 W. Market St.

Thune, of South Dakota, rose to national attention in 2004 when he defeated Democrat Tom Daschle, marking the first time a Senate Party leader had been defeated in more than 50 years, according to a Summit County Republican Party newsletter.

Obama's campaign holds watch parties

President Barack Obama's campaign will hold numerous watch parties at campaign offices and homes in the Akron-Canton area for his nomination acceptance speech Thursday night.

The parties are listed on the campaign's website. Click on "get involved" and then "find an upcoming event" and then search by zip code. Most of the parties start at 6 or 7 p.m. Obama is expected to speak around 10:30 p.m.

Obama campaign opening East Akron office

President Barack Obama's campaign will open an office in East Akron Tuesday, which will be the campaign's fourth office in Summit County.

The opening of the East Akron office at 396 E. Waterloo Road will be at 6:30 p.m. The campaign opened an office in Barberton at 530 W. Tuscarawas Ave. Saturday.
