FitzGerald to speak at Akron Press Club next week

By Stephanie Warsmith Published: May 14, 2014

Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald, the Democratic candidate for governor, will return to Akron next week for another event.

FitzGerald will speak at the Akron Press Club at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at Quaker Station, 135 S. Broadway. The event is co-sponsored by the University of Akron's Bliss Institute of Applied Politics.

FitzGerald has spoken in Akron twice in recent months, once at a union hall on the day Gov. John Kasich was delivering his State of the State address in nearby Medina, and more recently at a Summit County Progressive Democrats dinner May 2.

A Quinnipiac University poll released today showed Kasich with a 50-35 lead over FitzGerald.

The luncheon is $15 for Press Club members and $20 for non-members. For a reservation, call 330-564-4213, email RSVP@cmoresearch.com or visit www.cmoresearch.com/apc. The deadline is Friday.
