COLUMBUS: Ohio voters will get their first chance to see Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland go head-to-head against Republican challenger John Kasich.
The two men will square off Tuesday night in downtown Columbus in their first governor's race debate, hosted by the Ohio Newspaper Organization, an alliance of the state's eight largest newspapers. The economy will be front and center.
Kasich, ahead in polls, is a former congressman, Fox News commentator and Lehman Brothers managing director. He says he'll bring a more business-friendly approach to creating jobs in the state.
Strickland is a former congressman from Appalachia elected governor in 2006. He says that despite high unemployment Ohio's business climate is improving.
