Gibbs opens district office in Ashland

U.S. Rep. Bob Gibbs has opened a district office in ... Ashland.

While Ashland might seem like a curious spot, it makes more sense when one looks at the map of the sprawling, U-shaped 7th District he represents. Ashland and Holmes counties are roughly in the middle of the district, with Ashland sporting a much larger population than Holmes.

Boccieri may seek political comeback

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Boccieri would like to try for a return to Congress, and will spend the next year weighing his options and deciding which seat to seek.

Renacci to hold office hours in his new Wadsworth office

U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci will hold office hours in his new Wadsworth office Tuesday.

After being elected to a second term in November, Renacci announced that he would move his district office from Canton to Wadsworth. The lines of the 16th district that he represents were redrawn, with most of Stark County going to U.S. Rep. Bob Gibbs.

Akron hosts Israeli official

Akron hosted a high-ranking Israeli official this week who visited the city for the first time.

Yaron Sideman is the newly appointed consul general of Israel to the mid-Atlantic region, which includes Ohio, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Kentucky and southern New Jersey.

Husted's staff to have office hours in Twinsburg

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted will hold office hours staffed by his regional representatives across the state this week, including in Summit County.

Husted's office will have hours from 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday at the Twinsburg Public Library, 10050 Ravenna Road in Twinsburg. Summit is among six counties in which office hours will be held.

Retired Akron deputy mayor to speak at Akron Press Club

The event will be at 11:45 a.m. at the University of Akron's Martin Center, 105 Fir Hill.

Joyce keeping same district offices as LaTourette; one is in Twinsburg

U.S. Rep. David Joyce, R-Novelty, will keep the same two district offices as retired U.S. Rep. Steve LaTourette, whom he replaced in representing the 14th District. One office is in Twinsburg.

The district offices will primarily deal with casework and community outreach. Constituents may contact the offices to request help, share comments or ask questions.

Ryan to discuss mindfulness on radio show

U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan will discuss mindfulness, a meditation process he practices and recently wrote a book about, on a radio show on Sunday.

Ryan, D-Niles, will be on the Forum 360 show with Jane Eckert, an Akron psychologist and the owner of Studio e where she does mindfulness workshops and other seminars. Ellen Botnick will host the show.
