Legalize Democracy film to be screened

The film Legalize Democracy will be shown at 7 p.m. today at the Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 S. High St.

The film examines the history of the relationship between corporate power, oppression and social movements in the United States. The film was produced by Move to Amend, the national coalition seeking at U.S. constitutional amendment that would establish that only human beings, not corporations, possess inalienable constitutional rights and that political money is not equivalent to political speech.

A panel discussion will follow the film. Panelists will include Jennifer Toles, co-director of community outreach for The Way of Mind & Body; George Johnson, president of the Akron chapter of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees; Damareo Cooper, organizing director of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative; and John Fuller, clerk of the Northeast Ohio American Friends Service Committee.
