A liberal group is targeting members of Congress in competitive districts, including U.S. Rep. Dave Joyce, accusing them of being in line with the tea party, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Americans United For Change released a scorecard on Congressional members this week, rating them based on how often their votes fell in line with the tea party. Joyce, R-Russell Township, voted with the ultra-conservative tea party 77 percent of the time, according to the group.
Joyce, a freshman member of Congress, announced Wednesday that he plans to run for re-election.
“I believe in an American Dream where if you work hard and play by the rules, you can still get ahead," he said in an email. "However, I believe there’s much work to be done to ensure that American Dream remains a reality for my three kids and one day their own children.”
