When Deputy Mayor Dave Lieberth retired last December after 10 years with the city, he said he wanted to write a book about Akron.
Now, it looks like that's going to happen. The book has sponsors, a title, a publisher and a release date.
The Greater Akron Chamber and City of Akron are sponsoring the book, which will be called Akron: Inventive. Industrious. Inspired. The book is scheduled to come out in fall of this year and will be published by Cherbo Publishing Group, which is known for publications that highlight cities, states and organizations in North America. The publication also will be available as an interactive e-book, according to a press release the chamber released this afternoon.
Dan Colantone, the chamber's president and CEO, said the book will be a useful tool for telling the Akron story at international trade shows that business and local political leaders attend.
The book also will include profiles of the area's most respected businesses and organizations. The profiles will showcase companies' products and services, prospects for the future and sustainability services.
