President Barack Obama’s "Heartland Tour" will make two stops in the Akron area today.

The "Heartland Tour: Moving the Middle Class Forward" has been traveling through Ohio to highlight the differences between Obama and Mitt Romney, his GOP opponent, on issues that matter to the state, according to the campaign.

U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Niles, will join the RV tour at 2 p.m. outside of the University of Akron’s Bierce Library, 302 Buchtel Ave.

The tour will then stop at 6 p.m. at the grand opening of the campaign’s 100th Ohio office in Massillon at 24 Lincoln Way West. Massillon Mayor Kathy Catazaro-Perry and Stark County Democratic Party Chairman Randy Gonzalez will speak.

Obama’s campaign only opened 75 offices in Ohio in 2008, according to a campaign spokesperson.
