Ohio governor to unveil budget at Tuesday events
Associated Press
COLUMBUS: Ohio Gov. John Kasich's proposals for closing an $8 billion budget gap will be revealed at a pair of events scheduled for Tuesday.
The new Republican governor has slated a media briefing in the afternoon to share details of the two-year spending blueprint he's put together for Ohio. An evening town hall-style meeting will be held at the Capital Theater in the Riffe Center beginning at 6 p.m.
Republican Kasich is expected to propose income tax cuts, prison closures, downsizing government programs and shifting resources as he seeks to create more jobs and invigorate the economy.
A final budget would have to be approved by the GOP-led House and Senate.
