An African-American pastor made an interesting plea to Akron City Council members this week, asking them to better explain to the public what they do.
Greg Harrison, a pastor at Antioch Baptist Church, told council during a public comment period Monday that his parishioners have attended council meetings, but council moves so quickly through its business that it was difficult for them to understand what was happening.
Harrison suggested that council provide residents with information that they can use to measure how well council members do their jobs when it comes to election time. He suggested, for example, saying which council members sponsored legislation, how the legislation will impact the city and who presides over each committee.
"We don't know what is actually going on," Harrison said.
