Portage TEA Party meeting to include a reading of the Constitution

By Stephanie Warsmith Published: September 16, 2013

You've heard of reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. How about reading the Constitution?

That's what the Portage County TEA Party plans to do to celebrate Constitution Day at its monthly meeting Tuesday. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Maplewood Career Center, 7075 state Route 88 in Ravenna.

The TEA party plans to distribute pocket copies of the Constitution and to read the document aloud. Tom Zawistowski, the group's executive director, said he is surprised how many people have never read the Constitution, which he called "one of the most important documents ever written."

The meeting also will include a discussion of The Liberty Amendments, a book by Mark Levin.

The meeting is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
