Is fracking really all that bad?
That's the question posed by "FrackNation," an independent documentary that will be screened at 2 p.m. Sunday by the Portage County Tea Party.
The film investigates charges that have been made, including in the documentary "Gasland," that fracking -- a process for removing natural gas from deep in the earth -- is dangerous for the environment and should be stopped.
"FrackNation" was funded through a social media tool called "crowdfunding" in which over 3,000 individuals donated over $220,00 to pay for its production. The filmmakers took no money from the oil or gas industry.
The Ohio Liberty Council, an umbrella group of tea party organizations, is providing screenings of the film across Ohio. The local showing will be at the Maplewood Career Center, 7075 state Route 88 in Ravenna.
