By Stephanie Warsmith Published: May 30, 2012

Do you have thoughts on poverty?

How about on the federal budget?

A public hearing on these topics will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Missionary Church, 1350 Virginia Ave. in Akron.

Speakers may discuss for up to three minutes their thoughts on how and where their tax dollars sent to Washington, D.C. should be spent. Oral testimony will be recorded, while written statements will be copied. Both will be delivered to federal representatives.

U.S. Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman and U.S. Representatives Betty Sutton, Jim Renacci, Tim Ryan, Marcia Fudge and Steve LaTourette were invited to attend.

The event is free and open to the public. A continental breakfast will be served from 10 to 10:30 a.m.

The hearing is sponsored by the Northeast Ohio American Friends Service Committee and St. Paul Missionary Church. For more information, call 330-928-2301 or 330-773-0999.
