Stow student gets to be legislator for the day; Roegner sponsored reading program

By Stephanie Warsmith Published: November 30, 2012

A Stow third grader got to be a state legislator for the day this week.

Alexis Starnes was among the winners of a reading contest sponsored by state Rep. Kristina Roegner, R-Hudson. She and her family spent Thursday visiting Rogener and state Sen. Frank LaRose, R-Copley, touring the Statehouse, and learning about state government.

Roegner challenged students in her district in grades 1 to 6 to document five books they read on a bookmark and return the bookmark to a participating library. She selected winners from each library.

Alexis was unable to attend this summer when the other winning students went to Columbus to be mock legislators.
