Thune to speak at Summit GOP finance dinner
U.S. Sen. John Thune will speak at this year's Summit County Republican Party Finance Dinner, which will be Sept. 18 at the Hilton Akron-Fairlawn, 3180 W. Market St.
Thune, of South Dakota, rose to national attention in 2004 when he defeated Democrat Tom Daschle, marking the first time a Senate Party leader had been defeated in more than 50 years, according to a Summit County Republican Party newsletter.
Thune spoke at last week's Republican convention, throwing this support behind GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
The finance dinner will be at 7 p.m., with a cocktail reception starting at 6 p.m.
