Roegner introducing Right to Work legislation Wednesday

State Rep. Kristina Roegner, R-Hudson, plans to introduce Right to Work legislation Wednesday, an aide in her office confirmed this afternoon.

A press release with the announcement will be sent out this afternoon and a press conference will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

FitzGerald announces gubernatorial bid

Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald officially announced today that he is running for Ohio governor, the Plain Dealer has reported.

FitzGerald made his announcement, which wasn't a surprise, in Cleveland and will travel to Columbus and Cincinnati today to share the news as well.

Rep. Joyce holding 'coffee with Dave'

U.S. Rep. Dave Joyce, R-Russell Township, will have a "Coffee with Dave" event from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Woods Room of the Mentor Ice Arena/Community Center, 8600 Munson Road in Mentor.

This is Joyce's first such event, though he plans to have more. He will talk to constituents about case work, help with federal agencies, trips to Washington, D.C., and other federal issues.

Rep. Ryan weds school teacher

Ryan, D-Niles, married Andrea Zetts from Struthers in a private ceremony over the weekend in New York City, according to Pat Lowry, Ryan's spokesman.

Kasich topping potential Democratic challengers

Gov. John Kasich has a comfortable lead among his two potential Democratic challengers in the 2014 race, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released this morning.

The poll, however, shows male voters favoring Kasich more than female voters.

Akron council passes resolution opposing right-to-work push

Akron City Council passed a resolution this week opposing a statewide push to get a right-to-work amendment on the November ballot.

"This is union busting," said Councilman Jeff Fusco. "It is driven by the tea party and big money."

Akron council praises Fudge for opening Akron office

Akron City Council passed a resolution this week praising U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge for opening a district office in Akron.

Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic, who has often gotten heat for his international travel, is mentioned in an article about another Ohio mayor being scrutinized for his trips.

Plusquellic is quoted in a Toledo Blade article that ran today, which focuses on the international travels of Toledo Mayor Mike Bell.
