TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY FOR EARLY — OR ABSENTEE — VOTING for the Nov. 2 election.

In Summit County, voters must go to the Job Center, 1040 E. Tallmadge Ave. in Akron, to vote in person. Voters can request ballots or drop off completed ballots at the county elections board's main office, 470 Grant St. in Akron.

The Job Center will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, through the election.

In Medina, Portage, Stark and Wayne counties, in-person early voting will be offered at elections boards.

Prominent Democratic candidates, including Gov. Ted Strickland, will have a rally at the University of Akron at 1:30 p.m. today and then offer bus rides to the Job Center for early voting.

For those who aren't registered, registration can be done in Summit County at the Job Center or the board office, and in the other counties at the elections boards offices. The registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 4.
