Top Kasich adviser preaches need for better collaboration among local governments

By Stephanie Warsmith Published: January 21, 2014

Randy Cole, president of the Ohio Controlling Board, tells the Columbus Dispatch that local governments need to save money through better collaboration.

Among the information in reporter Joe Hallet's story is the number of local governments in Ohio: 88 counties, 936 cities and villages, 1,308 townships and 614 school districts.

A few of these numbers are familiar, like the number of counties and school districts, but the cities and villages/township figures are ones not often cited.

Cole, a top adviser to Gov. John Kasich in the Office of Budget and Management, is from Akron and has been pushing the need for collaboration/money savings for several years.
