Live in Akron and need shelter from the cold?
The city isn't offering extended hours at its community centers, but residents are welcome at the centers during their normal hours, said John Valle, director of neighborhood service.
The hours at the centers vary by center and day. The city didn't have the information on its website, but added it today. To see the hours, click on the community center's name.
Here's the listing provided on this blog earlier today when the information wasn't yet available on Akron's site. It provides the hours for the rest of this week:
Ed Davis Community Center: W-Th: noon to 8 p.m. F: noon to 6 p.m.
Ellet Community Center: W: 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Th: 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. F: 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Firestone Park Community Center: W: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Th: 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. F: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Joy Park Community Center: W-F: noon to 6 p.m.
Kenmore Community Center: W-F: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Lawton Street Community Center: W,F: noon to 6 p.m. Th: noon to 8:30 p.m.
Mason Park Community Center: W-F: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Northwest Family Recreation Center: W-Th: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. F: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
