Updated: Portage tea party holding meetings

By Stephanie Warsmith Published: September 17, 2012

The Portage County Tea Party PAC will hold two township town hall meetings this week to discuss the upcoming election.

The first meeting for residents of Mantua, Hiram and Shalersville townships will be at 7 p.m.Tuesday in the Crestwood High School cafeteria, 10919 Main St. in Mantua.

The second meeting for residents of Freedom, Nelson, Windham and Garretsville townships will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Garfield High School Auditorium, 10233 state Route 88 in Garettsville. (Note: this is the correct date. A previous release listed the meeting on Thursday, but a subsequent release said it was Wednesday.)

The meetings will include appearances by Ohio House candidate Matt Lynch and Dave Joyce, the Republican candidate running to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Steve LaTourette. This will be Joyce’s first official event in Portage County.

County commissioner candidates Bridget Pavlick and Larry Solak, county recorder candidate Kevin Fowler, and clerk of courts candidate Daniel Cartwright also are expected to attend, as is John Eklund, an Ohio Senate candidate.

The meetings are open to the public and refreshments will be served.
