On Sunday, from noon to 6 p.m. downtown music club Musica will host the fifth annual An Evening for Chuck
The afternoon length event will feature art, music and food with the proceeds from the $10 donation at the door going to benefit the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research.
The music will be provided by area bands including the rocking octet, Tofu Fighters, contemporary soul band Winslow and blues singer-songwriter Kristine Jackson, poet T.M. Göttl and new group (featuring ZACH) The Bodhis. The headliner will be local singer/songwriter ZACH with his full band and with help from Nova Scotia based singer/songwriter Carmel Mikol for a multi-media performance.
ZACH is not only the headliner for the benefit, but has a very personal connection with pancreatic cancer sufferers and the people who love them.
An Evening for Chuck was organized by ZACH after losing his father/manager/soundman/biggest fan Chuck Freidhof to the disease in early 2006. The loss inspired ZACH to try and help raise money to fight the disease which according to the National Cancer Institute has claimed more than 38,000 lives in America this year.
In addition to the music the family-friendly benefit will also feature as raffle, balloon animals by Magic Mike, face painting and speakers. The Summit County Humane Society will also be on site with animals ready for adoption.
And to help emphasize the connection between a diet and disease there will be some complimentary vegan food from Primoâs Deli, Brandt Evans of Blue Canyon, Mustard Seed Market, Kriegerâs, Cilantro, Urban Eats and others as well as an appearance by internationally-renowned author and vegan chef, Isa Chandra Moskowitz, will be present for a cooking demonstration and talk on diet and health!
The 5th Annual Evening for Chuck is sponsored by Buffalo ZEF Records and the Lustgarten Foundation, in association with WAPS 91.3FM The Summit, CO-OP Optical Eyecare, The Experts, Resource Title Agency, Promote You, The Love Initiative and Musica.
