Kudos to Pat and Dan aka the Black Keys on shifting nearly 80,000 units of their new album Brothers released on May 18 and debuting at number three on the Billboard Top 200 Albums charts.
The Firestone grads are right behind yet another Glee compilation (I watch the show but can't imagine why I'd want to own the music) at #1 and the Rolling Stones Exile on Main St. deluxe reissue which is a "re-entry" and is celebrating its 44th week on the charts...separated by nearly 40 years.
Oh yeah, and at number 4 is current teen idol Justin Beiber, so the Keys are in good company.
Brothers also made the top end of several other charts:
#1 Rock Album
#2 Digital Album
#1 Alternative Albums
and perhaps most importantly..
It's the best opening week sales figures and chart debut in the band's career and along with the many sold out shows across the land, a favorable and big spread in Rolling Stone (minus the stuff Pat said about his ex-wife, who is a lovely person) 2010 looks like a pretty good year for the Black Keys.
So good on them...
You can congratulate them at their July 24 show at Nautica Pavillion.
Hey, wanna watch Pat and Dan fight a few kids and each other?
