Brian Wilson & Jeff Beck play classic rock and classic rock guitar at E.J. Thomas Hall

It may look kind of strange on paper but Brian Wilson, creative force behind The Beach Boys and Jeff Beck, legendary guitarist of The Yardbirds and the various incarnations of his group performed in Akron on Sunday night.

The two and a half hour show saw Wilson and his large group which included original Beach Boys Al Jardine and David Marks play a set of hits by The Beach Boys such as Wouldn't It Be Nice and Good Vibrations followed by Beck and his quartet. The stars and their bands then joined for a trio of tunes from The Beach Boys influential magnum opus Pet Sounds including a lovely rendition of Surf's Up led by Beck.

The show ended with nearly 20 musicians onstage together and much of the not quite sold-out crowd dancing or at least grooving in their seats.

The pair of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers are winding down a relatively short tour together inspired by a series of pleasant recording sessions for Wilson's upcoming solo album.
