Willie Nelson Concert at Akron Civic Theatre cancelled

Northeast Ohioans will have to wait awhile to see the living legend singer/songwriter Willie Nelson in concert in Akron.
The Akron Civic Theatre show which had already changed dates to July 18 due to Nelson's hand injury has now been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts.
Akron Civic Theatre officials say they will try and reschedule but refunds are available at the point of purchase.

Indie rock duo Mates of State will play Grog Shop Saturday

Isn't it nice when couple find activities to do together?

Mates of State, the married Kansas couple Kori Gardner (vocals, keyboards and occasional guitar) and Jason Hammel (vocals, drums and occasional Casio synthesizer) who make pleasant boy/girl harmony heavy indie pop tunes are playing The Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights Saturday nights to promote their upcoming covers album Crushes (The Covers Mixtape) with openers Free Energy and comedian Todd Barry.

Smashing Pumpkins are still a's the proof

Ok, so Billy Corgan, the last (and most important) man standing from the original lineup of the Smashing Pumpkins is bringing the current lineup of SmashPumps to the House of Blues on July 6.

You may recall that the band's most recent album 2007's Zeitgeist it's first since breaking up and reforming sucked big time.
Corgan went with musical blunt force and lyrical blunt anger and it added up to a plodding boring album.

Kris Kristofferson performs at Kent Stage Wednesday night

Wednesday night The Kent Stage welcomes a well known actor whose “/singer-songwriter” designation actually came before the “actor” tag.

Besides holding it down for the ruggedly handsome bearded men of the world for much of his career, Kris Kristofferson is the writer of many a classic tune interpreted by man a classic artist. Kristofferson’s songs and their famous versions include Me & Bobby McGhee recorded by Roger Miller and his one-time girlfriend Janis Joplin, "Sunday Morning Coming Down" which garnered Johnny Cash a 1970 Best Song of the Year award from the Country Music Association the same year that Ray Price’s version of Kristofferson's For the Good Times won the same award from the Academy of Country Music.
