Downtown live music venue Musica plays host to local band showcase, Friday and Saturday

By malcolm Published: January 27, 2012

This weekend downtown music venue Musica (51 E. Market) has two nights featuring some pretty darn good local bands.

First up is Friday night which will be headlined by the indie rock & folk flavored band Bethesda (Shanna Delaney, Eric Ling, Justin Rife, Jesse Sloan, Dan Corby, Christopher Black, and part-timer Estee Beasley) who released a well received EP last year called Dreamtiger & Other Tails that is apparently going to get the band some quality background music time on a variety of shows on the Discovery Network as well as Showtime, MTV, Oxygen, VH1, and E!.
That's not to bad for an unsigned and kinda quirky indie band.

Judas Priest to release Ripper-less "The Complete Albums Collection" box set

By malcolm Published: January 19, 2012

Hmmm, I don't know.
If I'm Tim "Ripper" Owens, I think I'm a little bit offended that my four albums worth of contributions
to the J.P. canon [Jugulator (1997), '98 Live Meltdown (1998), Demolition (2001), Live in London (2003)] are being summarily ignored...As if the band did nothing between 1990-2005. I hope he at least gets an honroable mention and a couple of photos in the deluxe booklet.

Also, Nostradamus kind of sucked.

Van Halen to release new album in Feb. and Tour U.S. w/ Kool & The Gang

By malcolm Published: January 6, 2012

Fron the CGI desks of LiveNation and no, there is NO Cleveland date as of yet which frankly offends the hell outta me. I saw the 2007 reunion tour with DLR at The Q and it was pretty darn good. Much better musically than the 2004 Reunion Tour of Van Hagar.

..and yes, the paragraph about Kool and the Gang opening is part of the press release:

Black Keys appear on cover of Rolling Stone magazine

By malcolm Published: January 3, 2012

Yep, the local boys continue to make good and gooder as they get amped up for what could be their biggest (gooderest?) year of their decade long careers.

Their album El Camino debuted at #2 on the Billboard Charts, they appeared on Saturday Night Live twice in one year and looked awkward and uncomfortable on their recent Colbert Report appearance and now they have made the cover of Rolling Stone.
