Blues/R&B legend Bobby "Blue" Bland dead at 83

I grew up listening to some of Bobby "Blue" Bland's hits as my mother was a fan. I was lucky to see him with B.B. King at one of the last shows the pair did together in Cleveland severa years ago (I honestly don't recall the year) and he was smooth as always.

One by one we're losing more and more of the greats. Folks who laid the foundation in rock and R&B and other genres and paved the way, and in many cases got steamrolled by the industry, racism, sexism and folks who just don't know good music.

Todd Rundgren to perform back-to-back shows in N.E. Ohio later this summer

You already know that area favorite Todd Rundgren will be performing with the Akron Symphony and Akron Youth Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, August 31.

But on the next day, Sunday September 1, Rundgren will return to The Kent Stage for a more traditional gig "An Evening With Todd Rundgren."

Great White (sorta) coming to Akron on Friday night

Yep, darn short notice but Great White the 1980s purveyors of hair-metal and hard rock are coming to Akron to bang out their hits including Once Bitten, Twice Shy, Rock Me, House of Broken Love and...ahem... Mista Bone to the Tap House on Friday night.

If you're a longtime Great White fan you probably know that in recent years there have been two versions of the band touring and recording while threatening to sue each other in the process.
