Mariah Carey is afraid of Nicki Minaj...

By Malcolm Abram Published: January 8, 2013

Ok, let's be honest what would be more interesting television viewing.

Yet another gaggle of aspiring pop stars preening and wailing through Season 203 of American Idol or a weekly catfight (verbal and/or physical) between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj in full stage gear?

Randy Jackson can be the referee....."C'mon dawg, you know there's no hitting below the diamond encrusted Dolce & Gabbana belt! Keep your $200 manicured hands up!")

Yeah, I thought so....Anyway, here is the latest salvo from the A.I./Mariah/Nicki menage-a-trois of bitchiness and marketing (surely, you aren't naive enough to believe  this is purely two alpha divas going at it and any buzz for the new season created is merely a byproduct of their (marketable) rancor towards each other?...If you do, I'd like to sell you the turnip truck off of which you must have just fallen.)

Mariah Carey boosted her personal security in the wake of her feud last fall with fellow American Idol judge Nicki Minaj, Carey told Barbara Walters in an interview. "It felt like an unsafe work environment," Carey said. "Anytime anybody's reeling threats at somebody, you know, it's not appropriate. I'm a professional. I'm not used to that type of environment."

Carey said traveling with her kids convinced her to tighten security. "I just felt it was the appropriate thing to do," she said. "Sitting there on the road with two babies, I'm not going to take any chances."

Carey and Minaj's first spat occurred last October, and Walters reported that Carey heard Minaj say off-camera, "If I had a gun, I would shoot that b**ch." Walters later called Minaj "unpredictable" on The View. Minaj denied on Twitter that she made the gun remark and criticized Walters for not seeking her side of the story.
