Midwest Reggae Fest cancels Friday night concert

By Malcolm Abram Published: July 30, 2012

Yikes, hopefully this isn't a sign of trouble in the Midwest Reggae Fest camp, but the venerable 21 year-old N.E. Ohio reggae music festival has scrapped their Friday night slate of acts.

Here's the official word from the Irie horses digital mouth.

There have been some BIG CHANGES in regard to the MID WEST REGGAE FEST. Due to unforeseen difficulties FRIDAY NIGHT WILL BE CANCELED.
Saturday will remain the same with the original lineup and go from 3:00 PM - 2:00 AM. An 11 hour reggae show for discounted price of $40.00.
SUNDAY is being moved to the Beachland Ballroom. Tickets are only $20 advance/$25 at the door.

Refunds have already been sent to those who purchased Friday, Sunday or Weekend passes.

I expect Saturday to still be as strong as ever and appreciate the support!
Please help keep this festival strong and an annual event.

If you have questions, please email me.

Thank you!

I've heard some grumblings about the festival move to Whiskey Island which prohibits folks from bringing their favors. But even without Friday night there are still plenty of good local acts for proper skanking.

Here's the Saturday (8/11) line up:

12 AM - 2 AM Roots High Power

10:30 PM - 12 AM

Don Carlos
8 PM – 9:30 PM Carlos Jones & The P.L.U.S. Band
6:30 PM – 7:30 PM Marty Dread
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM Blue Riddim Band
4 PM- 5 PM Umojah Nation
3 PM - 4 PM DJ

and Sunday night at the Beachland

Dubtronic Kru
Lloyd Brown
