Well, apparently there are enough folks in Columbus familiar with R. Kelly's creepy history to get him ousted as one of the performers on the Fashion Meets Music Festival happening Friday, August 29-31.
Without Kelly that leaves O.A.R., Rusko, Michelle Williams (of Destiny’s Child), Paper Diamond, and Destructo as the festival's headlining acts.
I've never been a fan of "Kells" even before I found out he married his then 15 year old protege Aaliyah (her R. Kelly written and produced debut album was called "Age Ain't Nothin' But A Number"...Ewwwwwww!) and before his penchant for young ladies became common knowledge. I'm glad it still bothers some people.
Here's the official statement from the FMMF folks and Kelly's folks:
FASHION MEETS MUSIC FESTIVAL AND R. KELLY MAKE MUTUAL DECISION TO PART WAYS

I'm guessing that the conversation went something like this:
FMMF Folks: Yeah, ummm...a lot of people in the area think you're kind of gross and quite possibly a child predator.
R.Kelly's Folks: Yeah, but I wrote "I Believe I Can Fly," remember how inspiring that was back in the 90s?
FMMF Folks: Yeah, that was great...good tune..but, apparently the awesomeness of that song doesn't outweigh the...ummm...video and the subsequent trial in many folks mind.
R.Kelly's Folks: But I was declared innocent!
FMMF Folks: Well, technically, the verdict was "not guilty."
R.Kelly's Folks: Whatever, I didn't go to jail...Why, Oh Why can't people just let R. Kelly live!
FMMF Folks: Probably because there's a video of you having sex with and urinating on a child..that tends to stick with folks...Also, speaking of yourself in the third person thing is really obnoxious.
R.Kelly's Folks: whatever, she's doin' fine..y'all still gon' pay me my guarantee, right?
