Rock Hall wants YOU to be its eight-millionth visitor

By malcolm Published: August 12, 2010

That's right, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is expecting it's 8 million visitor to pass through the glass doors any day now.
If you happen to be that person you will be the beneficiary of a prize package that includes a Gibson guitar, a lifetime membership to the museum and dinner for you and your family at the Hard Rock Cafe Cleveland.

If you're wondering how to best use "stragety" as (Bugs Bunny would say) to be number 8,000,000, the folks at the Rock Hall expect Mr. or Ms. 8 milli to cross the threshold on Tuesday.
Good luck

Since we're on the subject of the Rock Hall, this weekend they are paying tribute to the late great guitarist/innovator/fascinating interview Les Paul
with a bunch of events. Arguably the most notable would be the various viewings the American Music Masters Tribute Concert to Les Paul that took place in 2008. I was there and it was pretty darn cool especially for guitar geeks.

-See! Slash smoke three full cigarettes (one per song and he brought another full pack onstage) as he plays a short set of tunes that quickly remind folks of his rock guitar god bonafides.
-See! former Michael Jackson guitarist Jennifer Batten's super fancy effect laden rendition of Les Paul's original super fancy arrangement "How High The Moon" (or "Brazil," my memory is a bit fuzzy but it was impressive nonetheless)
-See! The bearded Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top looking like some kind of Electric Blues Druid
-See! The man himself and his trio play a few tunes. He was really old (evidenced by the fact that he died about about a year later), and obviously he's lost some of his fretwork fastball but he was in high spirits and played "tastefully."
You get the idea.
